Water Drops

Water Drops

Gobi desert in Inner Mongolia is proceeding outward. Desertification is becoming an environmental and economical threat to north East Asia. Thereupon Chinese government is doing irrigation to the desert as a plan of a forestation. Gobi, where is consisted of sand and rock and pasture, is mostly very arid area. But many oasis sprung from the underground water are scattered around desert so that people can live around those oasis. So as speak, water in the desert is equivalent to life itself for people who live in there.

What we are trying to do is making a water network throughout the desert by covering the gap between the oasis. The water tower standing on the oasis is absorbing underground water and pushing them out to the field through the pipes branching from the tower. And the threads, at the very end, are oozing out the water. So that the plants can expand their habituation within the range of pipes and a herd of stock could moisture themselves buy licking the tread. And People like nomads and tourist can build a tent around the pipe, getting water easily. And the threads can capture the dewdrop created by wide daily temperature range and store them back into the tower.

This water dropping shade works as a shelter for the shelters by spraying water around now and then and dropping the micro temperature of place. This process is not only making place available for lives but create a unique scenic view by framing landscape. Also In the long term, we expect that this water dropping shelter could quench down the speed of desertification of Gobi by changing micro-climate and growing plantation or even more could be marching into inner area of desert.
